Progress and Continuing Education

Grooming is a very personal and individual process. No two groomers will groom the same way. My goal is to please you but please realize it may take more than 1 visit. I need to get to know you, your preferences and your dog. If I do not get it right, please let me know.  I hope that with time, patience and communication we can all soon be on the same page.
The world of grooming is ever-changing. To keep up with the lastest I attend many AKC and rare breed dog shows and grooming conferences. I recently decided to give competing in the grooming ring a go.

I went to the Burbank grooming conference and competed with an English Setter. I took Best in Show with the Setter!!!

I am in the process of becoming a Certified Master Groomer. I was able to take my last practical test in Burbank. I am lacking 2 written exams to achieve this.

I will be competing again early November in Dallas, TX.
Well, I can't win them all.  I competed with my Miniature Poodle Sean. I tried a trim I am not really familiar with and did bite off a bit more than I can chew. I learned a lot and got a wonderful review from the judge. Well worth the effort.

My next venture will be a 3 day seminar with Lisa Leady.
Lisa  is a third generation groomer with over 25 years experience. She is a Certified Master Groomer and certifier with IPG. She has been a groom team member since 2000, and has many Best All Around and Best in Show Placements.
In 2004 she qualified to travel with Groom Team to France where she helped bring home the silver medal. In 2006 she once again qualified to travel with Groom Team to Italy.
Lisa is a multiple Cardinal Crystal Achievement Award nominee and recipient of the 2003 Congeniality Award.
In 2002 Lisa sold her shop of 10 years and began a new career as a grooming school instructor. She has been the head instructor at two of IL state accredited grooming Schools. In early 2007 Lisa became the proud owner of Primp My Pooch Mobile Dog and Cat Salon in Genoa, IL. Lisa still enjoys teaching and uses her teaching skills giving hands on workshops and seminars.
Lisa has shown and bred Champion Smooth Fox Terriers for 15 years.
